Memoriam unfolds a language of remembrance and reminiscence. Through memorizations, repetitions and variations, through movement and voice, a group of people seek a path to something important.
Memoriam reminds us of the value of communities and the rituals and traditions that enable communities to pass on experiences from one age to another. In an uncertain present, the past resonates together with hopes and fears as we look into a bleak future.
Memoriam was written and composed by Niels Rønsholdt to the collaborative stage performance Memoriam by Tim Matiakis, Anna Berit Asp Christensen and Niels Rønsholdt. Memoriam was performed by Scenatet and dancer Marie Kaae. |

| Niels Rønsholdt, born in 1978, is a Danish composer known for his innovative approach to music, blending experimental opera, installations, songs, performances, and concert works. His distinctive style, described as ‘method composing’, integrates conceptual frameworks involving performance, text, and music, often drawing on elements of mainstream genres or traditional musical forms. Rønsholdt’s compositions have been commissioned by renowned international ensembles and have been showcased at major contemporary music festivals across Europe and beyond. |
